About Liya Sheer

Liya Sheer, acrylics/oil on canvas artist, was born in former Soviet Union in 1984. Through-out life she has been immigrating, moving and traveling around the world. After graduating from the University of Maryland, Robert H. Smith School of Business in 2006, Liya moved to New York and currently resides in Manhattan. Coming from artistically cultured family, Liya was always driven by the beauty of art from surroundings. Adventurous and fascinating life added inspiration to Liya's art style and work imagination. Ironically, never really studied the proper methods and laws of painting, Liya's talent is genetically acquired from her mother. Most of Liya's art work has the contrast of vibrant bright colors against the darks. The soft brush strokes create imagery realistic, yet the style is contemporary, hence the picture as a whole has a unique effect. The portfolio includes landscape, abstract, figurative, portraits, and still-life. "I love the challenge of painting something I never did before and prove to myself that all is possible." In recent years Liya's art work has been exhibited in several shows. Some paintings were customized per order. Most importantly, all paintings are originals and there are no prints for sale.
